The Dublin Taskforce published their report and recommendations on 21 October 2024.

The report sets out a lot of good ideas.

Some of those of greatest interest to pubs across Dublin include:

  • Make policing and security more visible and add 1000 more Gardaí.
  • Increase night-time transport services.
  • Implement a dedicated waste management plan for the city centre.

However, since publication there has been no sign of action from Government or Dublin City Council towards making these positive ideas a reality. 

 

This is despite Dublin City Council's own survey showing:

  • Only 1 in 3 people feel safe in the city centre at night.
  • 55% are in favour of improved night-time transport.
  • Only 1 in 6 (16%) believe there is good public transport available between midnight and 6am.

The LVA is calling on Government and Dublin City Council to not allow these recommendations to go to waste. They need to take action to make Dublin better and that starts by implementing the ideas their own taskforce drew up.
