In response to the recent ‘Public Consultation on the National Minimum Wage’, the LVA has made a submission to the Low Pay Commission.
The LVA’s position is that future adjustments to the National Minimum Wage should be in line with inflation.
Members are keen to improve the position of lower paid workers over time, but this must be done in a sustainable way that allows businesses to remain competitive.
The Dublin licensed trade employs a relatively large number of workers on the National Minimum Wage.Ā Pubs canĀ support the type of casual, part time work which suits some people who are not available for full time rolesĀ as they seek to juggle other commitments – such as their studies or their family responsibilities. These workers appreciate the flexibility offered and understand the value of employment with the licensed trade.
